MCZ Research

The Museum of Comparative Zoology is currently comprised of 12 faculty-curators, and five emeriti, who oversee and contribute to 12 specific departments in the museum, including Biological Oceanography, Entomology, Herpetology, Ichthyology, Invertebrate Paleontology, Invertebrate Zoology, Malacology, Mammalogy, Ornithology, Population Genetics, and Vertebrate Paleontology.

The faculty-curators also serve as professors and researchers in Harvard’s Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Department (OEB) with active research areas that include Biodiversity and Systematics, Biology of Marine Systems, Biomechanics and Physiology, Ecology, Evolutionary Developmental Biology, Mathematical and Computational Biology, Neuroethnology and Behavioral Ecology, Paleobiology, and Population and Evolutionary Genetics.

The MCZ also has a productive and active associates roster. These affiliated researchers are hosted by individual departments and are reviewed and approved by the MCZ Faculty, the governing board of the MCZ.
